It has always been my belief one should be well read in any field of study. My advice is "read
everything you can get your hands on." The following books I have found to be good material,
and could be useful addition's to a researcher's, or paranormal enthusiast's library. The
majority of these authors are well known investigators and researchers in the paranormal
field today. I have read each of these books and found them all worth recommending for
their own reasons. I have written a brief summary, and have included a picture of each book
cover. In addition I have included links to where they may be purchased. The actual
dimensions of these books have been altered to the format of this website, and are

The Ghost Hunters Guidebook (Troy Taylor): This is a book no beginning ghost
hunter, or investigator should be without. In my opinion, it is one of the most
comprehensive and well thought guidebooks in the field today. In this newly
revised work, Taylor offers advice on how one gets started as an investigator
from the ground up, tips on equipment, ethical do's and don'ts, historical facts
on the development of paranormal research, and information on theories
explaining certain types of hauntings. Taylor also gives detail on where to go to
find ghosts, tips how one may solicit services as a paranormal investigator,
and much more. I would strongly recommend this book for the quality of
information it provides alone. It can be found in the Haunted America Catalog
at www.prairieghosts.com, and amazon.com.
Peter Underwood's Guide to Ghosts & Haunted Places (Peter Underwood): A
well written book from one of England's most famous, and long time
paranormal researchers.
In this book Peter Underwood writes about some of his personal investigations
and cases. Underwood leads the reader through haunted houses, battlefields,
hospitals, castles, and more. He describes cases of poltergeist phenomena,
time slips, and animal hauntings. Out of Underwood's many publications, this
is definitely one of his best and most informative reads to date. For these
reasons alone, I would recommend it as part of any paranormal researcher's,
or enthusiast's personal library. This book is available at amazon.com.

The Field Guide to North American Hauntings (W. Haden Blackman): In this
book the author, W. Haden Blackman, gives the reader interesting facts about
each location such as presumed number of entities, their demeanor, and a
probability of encountering ghosts based on his research. He writes about
famous haunted vessels such as the Queen Mary in Longbeach, CA, haunted
houses like the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA, haunted
cemeteries such as Bachelor's Grove Cemetery near Chicago, IL. Blackman
also includes sections about natural haunts like Hat Creek Battleground in
northwestern Nebraska, and historic locations known for their numerous
ghosts like old Salem, Mass., or Tombstone, AZ. For me, the deciding factors
that landed this book on my recommendation list were the sample questions
at the rear of the publication. Appendix A provides the novice ghost hunter, or
investigator with example interview questions for witnesses, while appendix B
provides basic questions one can direct to ghosts during EVP sessions. This
book is available at amazon.com.

The Field Guide To Spirit Photography (Dale Kaczmarek): Written by one of the
a leading authorities on spirit photography in the United States. Dale
Kaczmarek, President of the Ghost Research Society, possesses one of the
worlds largest collections of spirit and ghost photos to date. In this book
Kaczmarek provides the reader with information on the history of spirit
photography, appropriate camera use, information on types of film, how to
attempt and analyze real spirit photographs from false photographs. He also
does an excellent job of explaining to the reader how a digital camera can be
applied to ghost photography, and much more. I would recommend this book
as a useful reference in any paranormal researcher's, professional or
beginner's, library. It is extremely ideal for the beginner who wishes to
seriously pursue spirit photography. This book available in the Haunted
America Catalog at www.prairieghosts.com, or amazon.com.
