The International Directory of Haunted Places: Ghostly abodes, sacred sites,
and other supernatural locations (Dennis William Hauck):
Dennis Hauck
provides yet another excellent mass collection of haunts, but this time around
the world. Haunts in countries like Canada, Mexico, Australia, South Africa,
Egypt, Vietnam, Japan, and Peru. The book also offers a great collection of
haunts in England and Italy, two of the most haunted countries in the world.
Although this book is only half the width of the National Directory above, it
provides the reader with a vast collection of published haunts around the
globe.  For this reason, it is another valuable addition to one's haunted
library. The book can be found at
amazon.com.
Hans Holzer's Travel Guide to Haunted Houses (Hans Holzer): I sought to add
this book to my recommendation list because it provides quality information
on many  North American and European haunts.  Hans Holzer provides the
reader with historical information on each location, information on
hauntings, and maps and directions to the locations themselves.  Holzer
also offers the reader places of accommodation nearby each haunted
location.  This is beneficial if one is not planing to spend the night at the
location itself.  This book does not contain photographs, but instead
includes illustrated listings by C.S Frerichs.  It is available at
amazon.com.
Haunted Houses of California (Antoinette May): A book dealing with
haunted locations in one of the most haunted states in the U.S. Author and
psychic researcher, Antoinette May, offers quality information on each of
the locations included in this book. She also includes addresses and phone
numbers to public locations.  The book begins with haunts like Mandrono
Manor in northern CA, then works down to haunts in central CA, including
the Winchester Mystery House, and concludes with famous haunts in San
Diego, like the Whaley House; one of my personal favorites. This book is a
great addition for anyone wishing to read more about famous haunts in
California. It is available at
amazon.com.
Spirits of the Civil War (Troy Taylor); This book is for the American Civil
War history buff, and the paranormal researcher alike.  In my case both.
Troy Taylor includes the history of each location, it's relation and place in
the American Civil War, and information pertaining to each haunting. In
my personal opinion, it is one the best publications on American Civil
War hauntings to date. I would strongly recommend this book for it's
chapter on Abraham Lincoln alone! In addition Taylor gives the reader
haunts related to slavery and the underground railroad, Civil War
barracks, homes, southern plantations, prisons of both Union and
Confederate armies, battlefields and much more.  One important fact
every researcher should know, is that many types of hauntings are a
direct result of a numerous elements.  Two of those elements can be past
occurrence, and environment. A haunting, in many cases, is an existing
essence from the past continuing on in a specific location. Excellent
examples of this are hauntings of the American Civil War. This
publication is available in the Haunted America Catalog at
prairieghosts.com and amazon.com.
The National Directory of Haunted Places: Ghostly abodes, sacred sites, UFO
landings, and other supernatural locations ( Dennis William Hauck):
The best
mass collection of hauntings ever published.  Author, and investigator,
Dennis Hauck provides a large collection of hauntings to the reader with
addresses, phone numbers, and directions to most locations listed.  Hauck
also provides lore, and factual information.  It is simply meant to give the
investigator, or enthusiast a basis for hauntings across the United States.
This is a book no researcher should be without for the simple fact that it lists
large quantities of known, and not so known haunted locations. It is
available in the Haunted America Catalog at
www.prairieghosts.com and
amazon.com.
